Description

Buraha Zenoni Hotel, a premier hospitality establishment located in Nakuru, is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Human Resource Officer (HRO) to join our management team.

Key Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will be responsible for establishing, managing, and executing all aspects of Human Resources including:

  1. Setting Up the HR Department – Develop HR policies, systems, procedures, and compliance frameworks from scratch.
  2. Recruitment & Talent Acquisition – Lead staffing processes to attract and onboard top hospitality talent.
  3. Onboarding & Induction – Design and implement structured induction programs for new hires.
  4. Employee Records & Data Management – Maintain organized and confidential employee records and HR data.
  5. Compensation & Benefits – Manage payroll systems, employee compensation, and benefits administration.
  6. Performance Management – Implement performance appraisals and continuous improvement initiatives.
  7. Training & Development – Identify learning needs and coordinate staff development plans and training programs.
  8. Employee Relations & Welfare – Foster a positive work environment and resolve workplace issues effectively.
  9. Disciplinary & Grievance Management – Handle cases in a fair, consistent, and legally compliant manner.
  10. Compliance & Labor Law Adherence – Ensure the organization adheres to all statutory HR and labor law requirements.
  11. Exit Management – Oversee structured offboarding and exit interview processes.
  12. HR Strategy & Analytics – Provide HR metrics and reports to support management decision-making.
Education
Bachelor’s degree in human resource management, Business Administration, or a related field. Certified Human Resource Professional (CHRP) certification is an added advantage. Valid IHRM Practicing Certificate (must be a member of the Institute of Human Resource Management – Kenya). 3 years of progressive HR experience, ideally in the hospitality industry. In-depth knowledge of Kenyan labor laws, HR best practices, and employee relations. Experience with setting up HR departments or systems is highly preferred. Strong interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills. High level of integrity, confidentiality, and professionalism. Proficiency in HR software and Microsoft Office Suite.
